Effective 19 October 2026 · App: Silsilara (Android id.silsilara.app and web)

By signing in and using Silsilara, you agree to the following terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. How Silsilara handles your data is explained in the Privacy Policy.

1. The service

Silsilara is a free app for recording and exploring family trees. Family tree data and photos are stored in the Google Drive of the family tree owner; a small Silsilara server connects invited family accounts to that family tree and only keeps the data described in the Privacy Policy. Features may change, be added, or be discontinued at any time.

2. Google account

To use Silsilara you need to sign in with a Google account and allow limited Google Drive access (only files created by Silsilara). A family tree owner allows the family accounts they invite to open the family tree through the Silsilara server. Your use of the account and Google Drive remains subject to the Google Terms of Service. You are responsible for keeping your own Google account secure.

3. Data you enter

You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter, including family members' names, dates of birth, WhatsApp/phone numbers, and photos.
Only enter other people's data if you are entitled to or have permission from the person concerned (or their parent/guardian for children).
Do not use Silsilara to store content that is unlawful, infringes the rights of others, or is inappropriate.
Your data remains yours. Silsilara claims no ownership of the data and photos you store.

4. Sharing with family

Through Account management, you can give other accounts Admin access (can add, edit, delete, and invite) or View only access. You are responsible for choosing who gets access. Changes and deletions made by Admin accounts apply to everyone who opens that family tree.

If a family tree is shared with you, you can leave it at any time via Profile → Leave this family tree. After leaving, you can't open it again until its owner invites you back.

5. Backups and data deletion

Deleting members and "Reset data" (available only to the family tree's owner) cannot be undone from the app. Deleted photos are moved to the Google Drive Trash and can be restored by their owner while they remain there. We recommend keeping your own backups, for example by downloading the diagram (PNG/PDF) or the silsilah.json file from Google Drive.

6. No warranty

Silsilara is provided "as is" without any warranty. Relationship names are calculated automatically from the data entered and may be wrong if the data is incomplete. Birthday reminders depend on the device and browser, so they may be late or not appear. The app may be temporarily unavailable, for example when Google services have problems.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any data loss, damage, or problems arising from the use of Silsilara, including those caused by changes made by accounts you gave access to or by outages of third-party services (Google).

8. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. The latest version and its effective date are always available on this page. By continuing to use Silsilara after a change, you are deemed to accept the new terms.
